Last Farm Standing on Buttermilk Hill
Voelcker Roots Run Deep in Hardberger Park
Coker Cemetery has a rich history. You will find many familiar family names on the
cemetery headstones: Jones, Maltsberger, Isom, Sandau, Gordon and Voelcker just to name a few. Max and Minnie
Voelcker, the former owners of land where the new Hardberger Park is located, are buried at Coker. Gayle Brennan
Spencer was commissioned by the Voelcker Estate to write the book, “The Last Farm Standing on Buttermilk Hill”
chronicling the lives of Max and Minnie Voelcker. The book includes many stories about Coker Community. The Voelcker
Trust has donated copies of the book to the Coker Cemetery Association for use as a fundraiser. Every member of your family should
have one. They make great Christmas or birthday gifts!
I AM SORRY TO REPORT THAT THE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION HAS RUN OUT
OF BOOKS. HOWEVER, COPIES ARE STILL AVAILABLE FROM:
