In Loving Memory of Carlton Marion Coker “Pop”
Carlton Marion Coker ascended into Heaven to be with the Lord on August 27, 2026,
and was met in the loving arms of his beloved parents Carlton Samuel and
Annabelle Coker, brother James Belton Coker, daughter Christina Coker-Johnson,
and granddaughter Ashley Coker-Martinez.
Pop is survived by his devoted wife, Cecilia Ann Coker, and his sons,
James Coker, and Carlton Coker and wife Sandra.
He was larger than life, a beloved husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, and friend whose greatest treasures in life were his
faith, family, and friends.
A proud United States Army veteran, who served in the Vietnam War from 1965 to
1966. His dedication, strength, and determination were qualities he carried
throughout his life.
Pop was a professional sales master for Gene Spires Buick in downtown San Antonio
on Broadway and later became the sole proprietor of Coker Auto Sales. He was also
a proud member of the historic Coker community and trustee of the Coker Cemetery
Association in northeast Bexar County; a place deeply connected to his family
and his roots.
He was a man of many talents and passions. He was a skilled knife maker, created
totem poles, and loved collecting arrowheads. He enjoyed horseshoes, shooting
pool, and pitching quarters—and if you knew Pop, you knew he was extremely
competitive. He cared deeply about everyone he met and always wanted them to
do well.
Some of Pop’s happiest memories were made outdoors and surrounded by the ones he
loved. He had spent countless days hunting as a youth along the Salado Creek,
swimming with his grandchildren, camping at Chalk Bluff, and visiting the
Guadalupe State Park. He enjoyed being at the Nueces River with family. These
were more than hobbies; they were moments of connection, laughter, stories,
and memories that his family will carry with them forever.
More than anything else, Pop believed in God and family first. He loved fiercely,
taught through example, and gave his family memories that will never fade.
Grandchildren: Samuel, Caroline, Amee, Taylor, Thomas, Carlton Jr., Joseph,
and Morgan. Great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Fallyn, Brew, Kelton, Karsyn,
Tripp, Adelyn, Cooper, Bristol, Connor, Grayson, and Gracie.
His family will remember his strength, his humor, his competitive spirit,
his stories, his craftsmanship, and the countless moments he shared with them.
His legacy will live on.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 9:15 AM at:
